Best Practices & Presentation Preparation
Slide Design: Keep slides clean, legible, and uncluttered with minimal text and clear graphics to maximize audience engagement and clarity.
PowerPoint Review Tools: Utilize built-in PowerPoint tools under the Review tab (such as Check Accessibility and Spelling) to catch typos and ensure readability.
Pacing & Practice: Use Rehearse with Coach or Rehearse Timings (found under the Slide Show tab).
Peer Review: Consider having a colleague review your deck and your presentation prior to finalizing to optimize overall message delivery.
Data Presentation & Technical Requirements
- Session Hall Hardware: Only official conference computers (equipped with Office 2019+ and native 16:9 projection) are used in session halls. Personal laptops cannot be connected in session rooms.
Video Clips: If your presentation contains embedded videos, test them with technicians at the Speakers’ Ready Room at least 2 hours before your session. Additionally, verify videos with the session hall technician during a coffee or lunch break at least 30 minutes prior to the session starting.
Important Notes for Macintosh Users
File Format: Convert your Mac presentation to .pptx (PowerPoint) or .pdf before bringing it to the Speakers’ Ready Room.
Fonts: Use standard cross-platform system fonts (e.g., Arial, Times New Roman, Verdana) to prevent formatting shifts or default font replacements on PC systems.
Images: Insert all images as JPG files (avoid TIF, PNG, or PICT formats, as they may not render correctly on PowerPoint-based PC systems).
