Going Green Together

At IPVS 2026, we are deeply committed to supporting the Sustainable Development Goals and taking meaningful actions to minimize our environmental impact. For IPVS 2026 in Athens, we are collaborating with the Megaron Athens International Conference Centre to improve the event’s environmental footprint and contribute to a more sustainable future.

Our focus spans across key areas such as waste, food, and energy management, with carefully designed initiatives before, during, and after the event. We are dedicated to informing IPVS participants, exhibitors, and sponsors about sustainable practices and empowering them to implement these changes in their own communities.

Together, let’s advance awareness of HPV-preventable cancers and diseases, build a healthier world, and promote equity in HPV research, prevention, innovation, and care.

IPVS 2026 and the Sustainable Development Goals

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs, also called the Global Goals) are 17 goals with 169 targets that all UN Member States have agreed to work toward achieving by 2030. They set out a plan for a world without poverty, hunger, and disease.

We at IPVS 2026 want to contribute to the achievement of these objectives in our value chain. We support and work toward the following SDGs:

Contributions You Can Make as an IPVS 2026 Delegate

As individuals and as a community, we can and should individually contribute to protecting the earth and its natural systems and resources and to sustaining the natural ecological balance of the ecosystem. Here is what we encourage you to do during the IPVS 2026 conference:

  • Use the mobile app and the virtual platform (instead of printing) to inquire about the program details
  • Use more sustainable ways of traveling to and around Bangkok
  • Reduce the waste you generate and separate disposal
  • Do not print booking confirmations and boarding passes; instead, provide digital copies of these documents.
  • Provide an alternative to business cards – QR codes to LinkedIn or e-card
  • Opt for reusable mugs and bottles

Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages

IPVS 2026 is not only an excellent forum for global scientific exchange but also a place where our participants can take care of their physical and mental wellbeing.

What are we doing in 2026
  • Health equity and holistic well-being are at the core of our sustainability mission, leading to the introduction of the Athens Running & Walking Experience. This activity invites participants to explore the city’s iconic heritage during the tranquil, early morning hours. Whether choosing the 5 km running route or the 3 km walking path, each route will offer participants brief interpretative stops with guided commentary, allowing for a unique intersection of aerobic exercise and historical insight. By participating in this wellness activity, you are choosing to prioritize your personal wellness and mental clarity, embodying the healthy lifestyle values that underpin our global effort to eliminate HPV-related diseases.

  • We work with local catering services aiming to provide fresh, seasonal and locally sourced food.
  • Water stations around the venue giving participants constant access to water supplies and supporting reusable cups and bottles.

Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all

Supporting accessible high-quality education for our global community is a top priority. Throughout the organization of IPVS 2026, we strive to continuously improve the program, introduce more accessible conference alternatives, eliminate disparities in education, and ensure long-term education for our attendees.

What we are doing in 2026
  • High-quality program – Carefully crafted by the IPVS 2026 Scientific Committee. We make sure to consistently innovate, educate, and deliver new knowledge, introduce new relevant topics, and invite the best international & local speakers.
  • Relevant topics – After it’s successful introduction in IPVC 2024, IPVS is organizing its 3rd edition of the HPV Course for Clinicians. We invite fellow clinicians to add extra value to their conference experience by joining these specialized sessions, including the Anogenital HPV Course and the IPVS High-Resolution Anoscopy Workshop.
  • Implementation Science Workshop – This workshop is designed to provide a comprehensive introduction to implementation science, equipping participants with the foundational knowledge and practical tools needed to translate research into practice.
